Novel Influenza Vaccine-The Effect of Vaccination Once Last Ten Years
WHO will publish a list of most possible occurred influenza virus in this season every year, then the pharmaceutical manufacturer will development the most needed vaccine according to the list. But there are always unexpected events, so that many influenza vaccines will be inefficient in this year. The protein on the surface of virus is mutagenic most likely, while the protein inside the cell is not mutagenic frequently. In this case, we should provide more effective vaccine against the inner protein.
The vaccine developed by Cornell University is similar with this vaccine, and the aim is for Matrix-2 (M2) which is invariant protein found in flu strain of people, avian, and pig. The researchers adopt two kinds bird flu genes sequences, and one is from pig, the other is from people. Both contain M2, and the researchers merge them into drug, then load the antigen into bacterial outer membrane vesicle (OMV), which will produce the vaccines with faster and longer effect, and against various influenza virus after engineered nanostructures of security strains-escherichia coli.
The team tested the vaccine for the mouse, and found the antibody amount rise within four weeks, which accounted for half time of control teams. In order to test the protected time, the researchers gave the mouse lethal dose of influenza a after vaccination six months later, while 100% survival. Six months account for a quarter life of mouse approximately, so the researchers think that this vaccine can eliminate the need for influenza vaccine every year when using this vaccine.
